Ratings & Viewership Report for iMPACT (12/22)

Source: TNAStars.com

The final cable rating and viewership estimates for last night’s episode of iMPACT Wrestling on Spike TV are now available. The numbers show that last night’s episode maintained a strong rating and viewership while still getting the typical holiday hit in the final numbers. Last night’s episode of iMPACT Wrestling scored a final cable rating of 1.03 which represented about 1,358,000 viewers over the course of the show’s two hours.

Last night’s final rating is 0.11 of a point lower and approximately 313,000 less viewers than last week’s episode, which scored a final cable rating of 1.14 with an average audience of 1,671,000 viewers.

When we know more about how last night’s show scored hour-by-hour, we’ll post that information in this spot. So check back early next week! Last night’s episode of iMPACT Wrestling on Spike TV had more total viewers than prime time and late night programming on other cable channels with a national audience including Discovery, ESPN, Tru TV, Bravo, TBS, the Food Network, FX, HGTV, the USA Network, History, and A&E – among others.

It is also worth noting that the show’s total viewership is hard to estimate. This is because DVR+3 figures (the amount of people who watch the show on their DVR within three days of recording it) usually adds about 200,000 more viewers in addition to the viewership number reported above. Plus, Spike.com uploads each full episode of iMPACT Wrestling to its website for free online streaming for a three month period. The online streaming versions of the show typically generate about 20,000 views before they are taken down (some episodes have many more viewers, others have less). However, there is no way to know whether or not DVR or online viewers are part of the original viewership estimate, so these figures are rarely reported by wrestling websites (but they’re still good to know!).

If you’re interested in iMPACT Wrestling’s ratings performance for 2010 and 2011, then check out TNAStars.com’s Ratings War area. In the Ratings War area you can see a comparison of iMPACT Wrestling vs. Monday Night RAW from the spring of 2010 and iMPACT Wrestling vs. Superstars from all of 2010 and the first part of 2011. Also, you can see a comparison of iMPACT Wrestling’s viewership numbers from week-to-week in 2011. Enjoy!

Back in 1996, Joe helped begin the internet wrestling age. Internet properties owned and operated by Joe include the former wrestling mega-sites TNAStars.com, TheBalrogsLair.com, TBLWrestling.com, XHeadlines.com, & WOWRevolution.com. A wrestling fan since 1990, Joe prefers watching iMPACT Wrestling and the indies.

For some reason, Google News isn’t picking up these ratings reports. So… I’m going to try a few new headline formats (see above) and I’ll probably rewrite some of the standard text in these reports which help to explain the total viewership including DVR and online viewing (which you really can’t find anywhere else).

If that doesn’t put these reports on Google News, then I don’t know what will!

If you need any help getting these unique rating reports out, I can always post around wherever TNA wrestling relates.

I would have done on a few dirt-sheets to bring a few TNA fans over here, but unfortunately I’ve been banned from posting comments due to seemingly being a TNA supporter…

Really? Sites have banned you for being a TNA supporter? Totally ridiculous. This is an odd time for internet wrestling – very reminiscent of the late 90′s when the internet was rallying around WWE and it’s Attitude Era. The only difference is that there is no “attitude” in WWE’s product right now and the adult brand of professional wrestling is clearly iMPACT Wrestling – for now.

    Very bizarre.

And hey – any promotion that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Some anti-TNA folks would probably think that my ratings reports are written from a pro-iMPACT Wrestling stance. Well, the truth is that I write them (and all reports) from a stance of positivity. In other words, I don’t look at a drop in a viewership or a ratings number as a chance to bash any one person or any promotion. Unfortunately, many of the internet wrestling denizens are too young to remember when I wrote the same type of reports for WWE RAW when it was getting bashed by WCW NITRO on a weekly basis.

It’s all about journalistic integrity and removing a negative point of view from a story. We’ve got that integrity here at TNAStars.com. Other sites? Well, not so much…

People want drama and big names.

There is no “What the fuck is going on here” – like when Hogan went heel and WCW outmatched WWF at that time.

I really hope you can do a hostile takeover kind of thing and make some heat. The SMALL arenas dont work either – it’s just look ridicolous.

I only watch TNA, cuz WWE sucks big time.

You need to work on this, do something that makes the world stop.
