The Wrestling Observer is reporting that they know the reason Ric Flair did not appear at this past weeks’ TNA Final Resolution PPV. According to the Observer Ric Flair has passed his “pay per appearance” number in his contract and wasn’t used on the PPV due to his lack of importance on the card.
You’ll remember the Observer said the same thing about Rob Van Dam when he was layed out by Abyss a few months ago. Van Dam has recently refuted that speculation and indicated he is on a multi-year contract with TNA wrestling. The Van Dam beating was actually a very important storyline arc and not a contract “write out”.
Since Flair and TNA are not talking about his contract details one has to strike this up as pure speculation on the Observer’s part.
Flair was a part of a highly publicized flag raising at a Tennessee Titans game this pas Thursday. We the covered story here and here and TNA the story heavily on the web. I would think it would be considered a bit of a stretch for Flair to allow TNA to use him for promotional purposes and he was not getting compensated. Not implying Flair is greedy but the man knows the value of his name.
If I was to rate the chances of this report by the Observer being true I would give it a -1 on a scale of 1 to 10.
